Newly elected pro-manchester Chair takes post

pro-manchester are proud to announce Jane Forbes, Partner- PwC has taken over from Alison Loveday as chair of pro-manchester last Friday.

In her first address as Chair Jane began by welcoming and congratulating the new elected Vice Chair, Alistair Cree of Eversheds Sutherland and new Deputy Vice Chair Jenn Hazlehurst of EY before announcing that Sam Booth, Isabel Riley and Nicola McCormick had all joined the board as executive Directors.

With over twenty years of experience with the company, Sam – currently Deputy CEO, Isabel – Finance and Company Secretary and Nicola McCormick – Head of Events and Operations, will strengthen the executive experience on the board and assist in driving the organisation forward.

“These fundamental changes to the board will improve governance and performance in the board room and the overall efficiency of the organisation.”

Moving on, Jane looked to the year ahead and outlined her goals for her year in office whilst taking the opportunity to reflect on the previous year.

She touched on the importance and value of developing the sector group programme and its integral role in providing the voice for businesses at a Greater Manchester strategic level, noting the strength and extent of the organisations reach and membership.

“As the leading professional business to business organisation, our breadth of knowledge and collaborative approach means we are perfectly positioned to be the voice for business in Greater Manchester. We look forward to working with the new Mayor, Deputy Mayors, Chief Executives and Leaders of the Combined Authority to inform and support the Greater Manchester Strategy.”

“Our sector group programme aligns closely with the regional strategy and enables collaboration and cooperation between financial and professional services and 12 of the key growth sectors within the region. Our dedicated programme of business development activity not only improves communications between us, but contributes to the ongoing growth and opportunities in our city.”

Jane paid tribute to the 150 pro-manchester events that have been held in the past 12 months, attended by more than 10,000 delegates. She also labelled the upcoming year as an exciting time for the city and its people.

Jane praised Alison Loveday for her hard work over the past year during her time as Chair stating she was “ A true professional and a fantastic ambassador for pro-manchester. Her commitment and dedication to the board had been a huge asset”

Jane concluded by saying “It’s an exciting time to be involved with pro-manchester. I am proud to stand as Chair of such a fantastic organsation, I’m looking forward to working with all pro-manchester members and continue to champion the important role that our sector plays in the Greater Manchester economy”

Through engagement in events and promotion to numerous sectors, pro-manchester plans to remain at the heart of Manchester’s business community.
