Manchester ‘well-placed’ to weather the continuing economic storm.
That was one of the messages from financial experts at pro.manchester’s corporate finance lunch, held at The Bridgewater Hall yesterday.
A panel - including Jonathan Boyers (KPMG), Paul Lupton (Deloitte), Ken Williamson (Ernst and Young) and Christine Adshead (PwC) – faced more than 150 pro.manchester members and business journalists to give their views on what 2010 has in store for the corporate finance market.
Speaking at the event, Jonathan Boyers said Manchester is in a strong position. He added: “In Manchester I have the sense we are in ascendancy in comparison to other parts of the country. There are a lot of PE houses, more than anywhere else.
“As a community it is well placed to take advantage of a recovery.”
Paul Lupton said the quality of deals would be key to success, adding: “We have got to be smarter about what we work on and spend more time working up quality deals, finding assets where there are strategic buyers and doing more corporate finance.”
The corporate finance lunch was held in partnership with Corpfin. Attendees were presented with an annual review of activity in Manchester’s advisory community.
