EVENT DETAILS
Airport City at Manchester Airport is a project that has been in the national and local news for over 12 months. The culmination of this was when Chancellor George Osborne unveiled the masterplan at the Airport in January 2012. The project and immediate area was also granted Enterprise Zone status by the Government in March 2011 &ndash thus providing further opportunity to the whole initiative.
So what is Airport City all about and do you fully understand the extent of opportunity it provides?
It is a project of major regional importance and its impact on Manchester will be significant.
We have assembled an expert group of speakers to provide a detailed briefing on the project &ndash these include John Atkins who is the Director responsible for Airport City, and a leading member of Manchester Airport&rsquos overall development team, Phil Doyle from 5 Plus Architects, who led the master planning process throughout and Simon Bedford from Drivers Jonas Deloitte, who worked closely with the Airport City team on planning, funding and enterprise zone matters.
This key event will be chaired by Stephen Frood from Davis Langdon, who provided cost management advice throughout the master planning process.
This is an ideal event to really find out what is happening at Airport City &ndash a project that is going to be of major regional and national significance over the coming years.
John Atkins John Atkins was named as Director of Airport City, the £650 million major Enterprise Zone development project at Manchester Airport, UK in 2011. In ten years within the development business, John Atkins has been responsible for over £150m of new projects at all four of the airports operated by the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) in Manchester, East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside.
Simon Bedford Simon joined Drivers Jonas as Head of the Economic Development team in May 2008. Prior to joining, he was managing director of EKOS Consulting, responsible for overseeing all company operations and leading the management and development of the company&rsquos four UK offices. With over 20 years&rsquo experience in practice, Simon has spent significant periods of his career as a director of Jones Lang LaSalle and Planning Director at Building Design Partnership. He has also worked in the public sector for both Local Authorities and Urban Development Corporations. He is an independent planning commissioner at the Greater Manchester Planning and Housing Commission.
