How useful is social media for the financial and professional sector?
Lauren Liles, Montpelier Chartered Accountants
Social networks bring people together with an opportunity to interact and express opinions – making it an invaluable tool for professional services firms.
Social media allows you to go to where your clients are and to find out what they are saying about you, your competitors and the wider industry. It enables you to engage with your target audience about problems and solutions and drive debate. It is important to recognise though that social media represents a potential additional channel for communication with clients and should be considered as part of your overall communications strategy.
The fact that social media is a two-way conversation makes your communications strategy more open and less corporate.
The danger of not getting involved in social media is that the conversations will still take place – you’ll just be excluded from them.
