Mouawad drives success of pro manchester

Celebrating his second anniversary in post, CEO of pro∙manchester, Daniel Mouawad has turned the membership organisation from a ‘luncheon club’ into a thriving business network.

The city strategist, who played an instrumental role in the development of the London Docklands, joined the organisation in 2006 with the aim of establishing Manchester’s financial and professional sector on the national and international circuit.

Citing 2007 as a ‘bumper year’, Mouawad reflects on the organisation’s key achievements, having led delegations with representatives from 20 countries across the globe and delivered 100 professional events which attracted more than 5,500 business people.

Commenting on the city’s strong sector credentials, he said: “The rate of deal activity in Manchester last year demonstrated the success of the sector as local advisors represented parties involved in 22 deals over £100 million in value.

“Manchester advisors proved they can play ball with the big hitters. Construction projects generated four major deals last year worth £1.35 billion.”

With more than 280 member firms in the region, pro∙manchester is not only a hot bed of expertise in the North West, but has also cemented strong links with professionals in London and established recognition as the UK’s second city in the F&P sector.

Mouawad is no stranger to the national and global business scene, having been appointed 18 months ago to represent the regions outside of London on the Sector Advisory Board for UK Financial Services, initiated by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

He believes it is essential pro∙manchester provides valuable intelligence for the sector, as an industry authority. In the past 12 months the organisation has developed a relationship with the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance to advise on skills required by the city’s financial and professional services sector.

He added: “Last year marked pro∙manchester’s coming of age as the organisation marked its 21st anniversary. We are committed to realizing Manchester’s phenomenal potential as national and international sector exemplars.

“The city generates business well beyond the regional boundaries and we are shaking off any perceptions of parochialism. Our message is clear, Manchester is leading the way and achieving the recognition it rightly deserves.”
