Panel advises on sealing the corporate finance deal

CORPORATE finance professionals need to alter their behaviour to thrive in the turbulent economic climate.

As deal activity starts to return, corporate advisers are being urged to remember the lessons learnt in the past two years to benefit from limited opportunities on offer.

pro.manchester, the financial and professional services membership organisation, is hosting a corporate finance panel discussion group next month to explore how the city’s advisers can thrive in 2010.

Chief executive John Ashcroft said: “Everyone involved in the corporate finance deals market, from bankers and investors to entrepreneurs and business owners, have experienced difficulties in recent years.

“The standard of deal opportunities coming to market are at a lower level and many are still recovering from loss of colleagues, savings and valuable balance sheets.

“The role of lead advisers has changed. While competition remains fierce, managing the expectation of business owners is also a priority. Advisers need to examine their behaviour to ensure they have what it takes to succeed.”

The corporate finance discussion group takes place at Halliwells, Spinningfields on May 11. On the panel is Danny Schweiger, director of Character World, business psychologist Hazel Carter Showell, from Carter Corson, Mike Perls, founder of MC2, and Nathalie Blake from corporate finance experts Ford Campbell, Mark Critchlow of Ford Campbell will chair the panel.
