Introduce yourself
I’m Jon Clements, founder of Metamorphic PR – a B2B public relations, marketing and corporate communications agency now into its 14th year of operation. Add 15 more years’ leading B2B teams in previous agencies and that’s a whole lot of PR experience. I was also a journalist in a former life, but don’t hold that against me.
Career highlights
There are many but, in brief: winning the top award in the business and corporate communications category for a PR campaign supporting Appleyard Lees (another pro-manchester member); becoming one of the first 50 Chartered PR professionals in the UK; hiring and developing the first-ever PR apprentice in the UK; as a journalist, interviewing some cultural heroes, including Quentin Tarantino and Jools Holland.
Name three words that describe your personality
Persistent, irreverent and, consequently, apologetic.
What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?
The many opportunities to meet like-minded people in a friendly and co-operative environment; breaking down the barriers that often exist when trying to forge new business contacts and build relationships.
What are your priorities for 2025?
To make sure there’s a 2026.
What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?
The environment being created by the Greater Manchester Mayoralty which is reinforcing the business and innovation confidence the city (and region) already has. Local journalism – such as The Mill – in rude health.
Favourite meeting place in Manchester
Ezra and Gil, whether on Peter Street or in the NQ; Domus Italia in the suburbs.
Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?
As we say in Metamorphic PR’s vision and mission statements, companies that want to be recognised publicly and rewarded reputationally for the great things they do – including their commitment to sustainable and responsible business – and which are willing to instil a method, culture and practice of planned and consistent communications at the core of business strategy
