Introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Shamaine. I am the Programme Director for National Social Mobility Charity LTSB, a charity dedicated to supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds into employment in professional services. I’ve been with the Charity for 7 and a half years now and have over a decade of experience in the youth Charity sector, alongside a background in Education, having completed a PGCE in Lifelong learning. I joined LTSB back in 2018 and shortly moved to Manchester after (a lifelong dream of mine). I’m originally from Huddersfield and proud to be Yorkshire, but love this city and all it has to offer!

Outside of work, I’m passionate about fitness and nutrition. At University I studied Dance Performance and Teaching, so I do like to stay active. In my spare time, I decided to study and qualify as a Personal Trainer in 2017, and completed a Level 3 Nutrition and Weight Management course in 2018.  Finally, I am also a dog mum to Alfie the Cavapoo, and like any dog mum, pictures are always at the ready.

Career highlight

Applying for and becoming the Director of Programmes here at LTSB. I am very passionate about the work LTSB do, so being part of the senior Leadership Team, steering the charity forward, is an honour.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

All the opportunities it gives to its members. The potential for collaboration with other professionals and like-minded people in this city, from this membership, is endless. The staff who work there too are also incredible people!

What are your priorities for 2026?

Last year, LTSB launched a new school’s programme called FutureYOU. This programme is designed to give students the language to better describe their future, the skills to make the most of opportunities, and first-hand experience of aspirational careers with access to leading employers. We successfully received funding to deliver our programme in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow. My priority is to ensure that this programme is delivered and makes an impact. The goal is to bring in more funding to be able to continue to scale out this programme over the years.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester

Currently, Junction, attached to the Manchester Central, it has a lovely social workspace and every time I have been its never been busy, so plenty of room!

Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?

Since 2012, we’ve placed 1250 young people aged 16 – 24 from disadvantaged backgrounds into entry-level roles and apprenticeships with leading employers who are committed to creating fairer access to people from all backgrounds.  Without the support from Funders and Corporate partners, we would not be able to do what we do, so I am always keen to connect with businesses and individuals to discuss how we could work together. In the meantime, you can find further information on our website – LTSB homepage | Social Mobility Youth Employment Charity
