Introduce yourself

I’m Kuda Mangurenje, Business Engagement Lead at EMERGE. We work to promote the “3Rs” of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. Based in Openshaw at the New Smithfield Market. EMERGE champions sustainable resource management while creating meaningful local employment, training and volunteering opportunities.

We work with local businesses and communities to turn surplus into social value and positive community impact.

Through our charitable initiative FareShare Greater Manchester I help local  organisations do good, give back and support people across our communities.

Career highlight

I would say the whole of 2025 was my busiest. Together with the team across our FareShare and Touchwood operations I facilitated for different teams totalling over 600 corporate volunteers from nearly 50 businesses with a presence in Manchester making social impact.

Name three words that describe your personality

Positive,  Approachable and Detailed

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

For me it’s in the name , pro-Manchester really is the gateway into all things Manchester. Being new to the city, I love the opportunities it creates to connect, learn and feel part of the business community. It brings people together in a way that’s welcoming, collaborative and genuinely proud of Manchester.

What are your priorities for 2026?

My priorities for 2026 are personal development and growth, meeting more people, and getting more involved in the Manchester business community. I’m especially excited to be joining Future Pro. I invite local businesses to come down and see us at our site through a team volunteering day, giving back while connecting with others.

I’ve met so many amazing people through the volunteering days I manage, and they continue to be a real highlight of my work.

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

All the development happening across Manchester feels like one of the most important things right now, everyone is talking about it, and it’s impossible not to notice the pace of change.

My memory of the city doesn’t go back too far, but seeing historic photos makes it incredible to realise how far Manchester has come. What stands out most is how our city is growing its businesses, social and green spaces while still preserving its historic architecture and clearly looking ahead to the future.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester

I have only ever been there once, but Fenix. Deloitte Offices also, the view is great from the 8th floor.

Are their any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?

I’m keen to connect with businesses across professional services, logistics, property, tech and purpose-driven SMEs who care about social value. Especially those looking to engage their teams, strengthen ESG goals and give back locally in meaningful ways.

All this just to say, if you care about people and the planet, we would love to hear from you and explore how we can make lasting social and environmental impact.
