Greater Manchester Drives Sustainable Innovation Through Digital Inclusion, Green Travel and Low-Carbon Business Support

Across Greater Manchester, partners are continuing to demonstrate how practical action on sustainability can deliver real benefits for businesses, communities and the wider economy.
Organisations are being encouraged to give unused laptops, tablets and smartphones a second life through the Greater Manchester Technology Fund. The scheme provides a simple, secure way to reduce waste while helping residents get online and access opportunities.
On Tuesday 9 June, the Energy Innovation Agency is hosting a free webinar exploring how energy efficiency and decarbonisation can be delivered in heritage and listed buildings. The session will focus on practical solutions, showcasing how innovative approaches can improve performance while protecting building character.
New and improved infrastructure is making it easier for people to travel more sustainably across the city. The CyanLines walking routes connect key locations including Mayfield, New Islington, Castlefield Viaduct and Ancoats, linking green spaces, canal paths and pedestrian routes to support more active journeys.
At the same time, new overnight rail services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport are improving connectivity for night-time workers and businesses, offering more sustainable travel options outside standard hours.
