Fairness in the workplace is a vital part of a successful business and high on pro-manchester’s agenda. Committed to championing equality, diversity and inclusion pro-manchester’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee have created a new 4year strategy.

Year 1 Understanding
Year 2 Respecting
Year 3 Valuing
Year 4 Action

Focusing on Understanding for 2020, next year’s agenda will concentrate on improving the understanding around issues and challenges faced by pro-manchester members in shaping inclusive cultures. The agenda will include a number of events and activities, which will explore the perceptions of diverse groups of people and the barriers faced with recruiting and retaining individuals from disadvantaged, marginalised and discriminated communities.

The aim of the 4year strategy is to

• Help develop a culture of EDI for as many people as possible within the pro-manchester and North-West business community
• Change perceptions, breakdown barriers, facilitate conversations and challenge non-EDI behaviour, in a safe, constructive and respectful way
• Educate, inform and support

To drive the agenda, the EDI committee have introduced the following Working Groups, who will meet up regularly throughout the year to discuss challenges, barriers and opportunities to help develop the program of activity.

• LGBT+/transgender/gender/sexual orientation
• Disability, mental health, neuro-diversity
• Social Mobility
