Over 260 food parcels have so far been donated by Cowgills to the Bolton Lads and Girls Club (BLGC) campaign to ensure no families in Bolton go hungry. The business advisory and accountancy firm which is based on Chorley New Road has been supporting BLGC’s campaign over the last few weeks and has so far raised over £7,500.

Commenting on the campaign Cowgills partner Rob Lord said: “We have been long standing patrons of the Bolton Lads and Girls Club who work tirelessly to support children, young people and their families across Bolton. We were eager to use our network to support their campaign and help to feed local families through lockdown.

“It’s shocking to think that 34% of children are living in poverty in Bolton and so many of these children are falling short of government support, they are from families who, in normal circumstances, work and earn enough to get by.  The pandemic however has left them in hard times and as a result they are going hungry. We have been overwhelmed by the support shown and thank everyone for getting involved.”

Cowgills is asking people for donations of food or money to build food parcels to feed local families and make sure not one child goes to bed hungry. They have also teamed up with Bolton-based Nutri Bar, to deliver 200 hot meals and week.

Karen Edwards OBE, Chief Executive Office of Bolton Lads and Girls Club said: “We are so grateful to all of those, including Cowgills, who continue to support our efforts in helping our young people and families at a time when they need it the most.

“The sense of community and the desire to help that we have received from our Patrons, supporters and individuals in the community, has been overwhelming. In Bolton we are proud, and we want to help one another, that has been more than evident in the level of support we have received.

“Thank you to every single person who has helped, as without all the generosity we have received, we wouldn’t be able to provide the emergency food, essential items and support that we have been able to so far to our families in crisis.”
