Tuesday, 31st August 2021

Each week we get to know one of our members a little better. Well this week you get to know two! Katrina Johnson, Regional Director, North England & Steven Borthwick, North UK Business Development Manager – Wealth Management & Investments Barclays…

  1. Career highlight?

Steven: Introducing Investment Signposting which trained 12k colleagues across Barclays UK on how to support customers on understanding all the Savings & Investment options at Barclays.

Katrina: Finalist in a Women of the Year award.  I got to go to New York and meet some amazing people.

  1. Why do you love pro-manchester?

S: I love the family feel to it and how welcome everyone makes you.

K: I love the fact that it brings all different types of businesses together but with one common goal… Manchester!

  1. What are you reading at the moment?

S: Steven Gerrard autobiography. Being a big Rangers fan, he is my current hero. He might not be as popular in Manchester however!

K: “How Women Rise” (for the second time) desperately trying to break some of those 12 habits

  1. What are you watching at the moment?

S: Your Honor. Loving it

K: Just finished watching “The Good Doctor” so on the lookout for another good series

  1. Favourite band or artist?

S: Jay Z

K: This is a tough one as I like listening to lots of different music and normally just have the radio on in the background, if I can keep Talk Sport off for long enough, boys!

  1. Hidden / Useless Talent?

S: I love playing lawn bowls.

K: I have a Snake Handling Certificate; I was asked to take a course when working at a Sea life Centre.  I can’t say it’s come in handy!

  1. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

S: To not assume that an office environment is boring. This would have allowed me to get started in my career in Finance earlier.

K: Don’t study Marine Biology…. you are going to be working in Finance for all your adult life!

  1. Favourite meeting place in Manchester?

S: The Oast House. Great pint of Budvar.

K: In town somewhere as it means I am meeting up with Friends to have a night out.

  1. Favourite place to visit in Manchester?

S: Spinningfields. I love the energy it gives you and it has everything to allow you to work and play hard.

K: Currently its Bramhall Park as I take my dog there and watch him naughtily chase after the ducks!

  1. Best concert / gig / performance you’ve been to?

S: Red Hot Chilli Peppers when I was younger.

K: Beyoncé but that was in the O2 in London

  1. If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, whose would they be? Why?

S: Ally McCoist. Would love to travel around the UK commentating on football games and having a few cold ones after.

K: Well, thinking about the Olympics that have just finished Laura Kenny comes to mind and it would be her bike shoes.  Seeing her become Britain’s most decorated female champion and getting the gold in the Madison was amazing.  I am really not sure I could manage a day however with all the hard work I am sure she has to put into it.

  1. What are you looking forward to most in the next 12 months?

S: Getting back out and meeting people face to face. You cannot beat it!

K: To be able to get back to travelling and seeing my team regularly.
