Business Communications Group Announces New Division

A Manchester mobile phone provider is delighted to announce a strategic acquisition that further strengthens their position in the market and enables them to offer more than mobile solutions to their customers.

Established in 2005, MID Communications are an independent franchise of O2 (Telefonica UK Ltd), selling O2 products and services through their retail outlets to private and business customers.

From their first store in Cleveleys, MID Communications continued to grow to its current position as a £20m turnover business, with 15 retail stores and their Head Office and Contact Centre in Rochdale, servicing over 3000 business customers.

With a focus on mobile communications, MID was keen to expand their offering to their business customers by offering a complete business telecoms solution. So, in 2019, they began the hunt to acquire an established business specialising in ‘more than mobile’ solutions such as VoIP and Internet Connectivity

Through a mutual acquaintance, they were introduced to Alex Abbey, the MD of Apeiron Communications based in Clitheroe, who had an established customer base providing all aspects of business telecoms. Alex had seen great success over several years and was also looking to grow.

Realising their aligned purpose, MID has acquired Apeiron Communications and created a new division called MID Digital Solutions, led by Alex Abbey.

The MID Digital Solutions business combines over 74 years of knowledge and experience. By partnering with market-leading strategic suppliers, they are focusing on supporting their customers in three core areas: Business Mobile, Cloud Telephony and Internet Connectivity.

With a genuine desire to be carbon neutral, the business has invested in a fleet of electric vehicles and now offers refurbished hardware as part of its customer proposition.

Operating across the Northwest and Greater Manchester, MID Digital Solutions will continue to provide the very best services to its customers and are keen to keep their high retention rate of 92% in what is a saturated market.

MID Digital Solutions Director of Business Alex Abbey said, “The decision to sell Aperion to MID was a no-brainer. From my first meeting with MID, it was clear that our vision and purpose was perfectly aligned. Merging with a larger group will allow me to focus on providing business customers with excellent value and the highest levels of service.”

MID Communications CEO Danny Simpson said, “Bringing Alex and Apeiron into the MID Communications family has given us the platform we wanted to expand our business services. From previously only offering mobile communications, we can now provide the full suite of products that our customers demand”.

MID Digital Solutions will officially launch later this month.
