1. Introduce yourself

I’m Kathryn, co-founder and director of Definition Consulting. I have been working in Sales, Marketing and Business Development for the last 20+ years (gosh that makes me feel old). 15 of those years I have spent running my own business, the past 9 years have been building Definition Consulting a Marketing & Business Development agency with my business partner Kirsty along with our team.

2. Career highlight

The main highlight and turning point for me was meeting my business partner Kirsty. At the time she was running her own marketing agency in Manchester and I had a Business Development consultancy. We were brought together by a joint client and that was the moment we realised there was a real gap in the market for an agency that looks at integrating both Marketing and Business Development working together to achieve real results for businesses. This was back in 2014, we began by working alongside each other to see if a) we could work together and b) find clients who wanted this new offer. Safe to say they did and in 2016 Definition was officially launched and Kirsty remains today one of my closest friends and business partner.

3. Name three words that describe your personality

Determined, authentic and super organised!

4. What’s the best thing about pro-manchester

I was first involved in Pro Manchester over 12 years ago and recently rejoined after some time away and I am so pleased we did as the range of events that are taking place and the vibrant business community that surrounds it is great. Some of the team who are not natural networkers have attended some of the learning events and really felt the benefit. It is still early days, but we look forward to being more involved and meeting more like-minded businesses.

5. What are your priorities for 2025

Our priorities for 2025 include expanding our client base, continuing to deliver results and a great service for our clients and support them to reach their goals. We are always looking for great people to partner with or add to the team, we are big believers in collaboration.

6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

One of the things I love about Manchester (I am a southerner who moved here in 2002) is the optimism. Business does feel tough at the moment (I won’t get political) but you only have to look around and talk to other business owners and there is a real sense of community and drive for innovation and growth in the city and that in turn creates a sense of excitement and keeps you going.

7. Favourite meeting place in Manchester

We are located in Bonded Warehouse, so that is a great place to meet and has that perfect combination of mixing the past history of industrial Manchester with the modern creative hub it is today.

8. Are their any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet

We work with a range of sectors from professional services, to tech, to distribution, to manufacturing and always looking to meet with forward-thinking SMEs typically with 20 – 250 employees who are ambitious and wanting to grow.
