Professor Vicky Halliwell has been appointed into the role of PVC Dean of the University of Salford’s School of Health and Society.

Vicky has worked at the University of Salford since April 2001, when she was a lecturer in Occupational Therapy. She has since held roles including Programme Leader, Admissions Tutor, Head of Learning and Teaching, and Associate Dean Academic.

She has been interim PVC Dean of the school since November 2024, when she stepped up from Deputy Dean following Professor Margaret Rowe’s retirement.

She has been Chair of the Greater Manchester Allied Health Professions Council, co-leading their strategy development and is a member of numerous local, and national workforce and policy groups linked to health and care. She is a member of the Council of Deans for Health and sits on their Strategic Policy Group.

Vicky commented: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of PVC Dean at this very exciting time for our School of Health and Society. The development of our new health and wellbeing building, one of the gems in the expanding University of Salford estate, is now well underway and will benefit staff, students and the local community.

“I look forward to continuing to work with our fabulous and dedicated team of colleagues and students across the University as we inspire and educate the health and social care professionals of tomorrow.”

Professor Simone Buitendijk, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, University of Salford, said: “Vicky’s outstanding career to date has included overseeing the development of our state-of-the-art new health and wellbeing building, due to open in 2026.

“She has been an integral part of our school and university leadership teams during a period of incredible growth for the School of Health and Society, which is one of the largest providers of Nursing and Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals in the UK. I wish her all the best in her new role.”

Vicky will take up the role of PVC Dean from 1 October.
