Being Cloud Conscious

Wednesday, 24th April 2024

“Cloud” is a term that has been coined around for a while now. Especially in the accounting profession. But what is Cloud? To keep it simple, it’s when a software solution is hosted on the internet. Your data is stored, managed and processed across a network of servers, instead of your local machine. Think about Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and so on, all those movies that you can stream to your Smart TV, phone or even tablet, without needing to download anything besides an app. That’s all accessible because of the “Cloud”.

Adopting new solutions is daunting and can be challenging for some businesses, but it’s more important now than ever, to modernise your tech ecosystem. A recent Xero study showed a new method of fuelling growth, and that’s the adoption of digital tools. Small and medium-sized businesses that have widely adopted, these digital tools can show revenue growth of over 8.1% compared to their peers.

Cloud technology, or just technology, allows you to “Work smarter, not harder.” For example, do you find yourself completing invoices manually into your accounting solution? If yes, there is a solution for that, that goes by the name of Dext.

Everything we buy in our personal lives is to make our life easier, so why do we not bring this approach into our businesses?

If there is one takeaway from this blog, think to yourself, “Is there an easier way to do this task?” Because there probably is! 😉
