Mott MacDonald is pleased to present the fourth in our series of Lunch and Learn sessions;Rebuilding after Disasters; A Project Manager's Toolkit, delivered by Saurabh Bhandari Project Director for Mott MacDonald.

Webinar Description:

The light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel can just about be seen – vaccines are being rolled out and there is hope that the end is finally in sight; though the impact to our lives has been immeasurable.  At the same time, the last 50 years has seen the most significant changes to the global temperature resulting in extreme weather events, consequently having a major impact on the communities that we serve.

Disasters take many forms and can strike at any time - It is critical to think about our responses to these future anomalies now, as it may be the most critical part in the race of saving people around the world. A Project Manager could play a key part in saving millions of lives!

Drawing on broad experiences, the case study will explore the programme management and technology approaches that can help Project Managers deal with fast track, high volume and emergent scope while delivering the critical benefits to impacted communities, within the boundaries of traditional constraints.

The talk will focus on learnings from post-disaster rebuilds across multiple infrastructure assets across the globe, including the multi award winning Cumbria Infrastructure Recovery Programme. Takeaways will include Programme management strategies, use of technology toolkits and novel contracting methodologies that can be applied to a diverse set of projects.

Saurabh Bhandari is a Project Director with two decades of experience across multiple sectors from transport infrastructure, utilities, healthcare and education, and a proven track record of working with clients to implement and deliver complex projects and fast track programmes. His expertise is in setting delivery strategies that drive projects in complex multi-stakeholder environments. He has specific interest in post-disaster response and putting together multi-disciplined delivery teams in dynamic and emergent environments. As a front-end delivery practitioner, he has led and participated in the delivery of many award-winning projects, including the Cumbria Infrastructure Recovery Programme.
