About the Speakers:

Sam Grogan Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Experience - University of Salford

Following an early career in the creative industries, Sam has spent the last decade and a half in student-centric leadership positions within a range of higher UK education institutions. As Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience at the University of Salford, Sam holds academic oversight for quality and standards of the taught portfolio, Executive responsibility for the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre within the university and Executive responsibility for developing the learning philosophy underpinning the student journey. These responsibilities focus upon enabling student success in the context of performance against student quality metrics to ensure value for money.

Sam also led on the university’s academic response to COVID-19. He has ensured teaching and learning practices have adapted towards delivery of excellent student outcomes, and that institutional practices are reimagined to learn from the pandemic as we tilt towards positive and lasting change.

Alongside work at Salford, Sam continues to work in leadership and thought leadership nationally and internationally, building on a range of external engagements and board experiences.

Sam is Co-Chair of the pro-manchester Skills Committee.

Kai Ojo CEO UK&I - Planisware

Tech leader with over 20 years’ experience working in start-ups, mid-sized and enterprise organisations delivering award winning solutions to customers in multiple sectors. MBA qualified with international experience. Experience includes management of all customer-facing delivery teams, management of product development teams, delivery of strategic pre-sales, sales/account management engagements as well as general operational running of the business.

 

Dr Jonathan Westlake Lecturer - University of Salford

Jonathan is a part-time lecturer in the Salford Business School and Department of Computing here at the University of Salford. Although Jonathan has a technology background, his skills lie in bridging the gap between technology and change, with over four decades of change management experience.

Jonathan is currently involved in change management projects with SPF funding, helping firms with digital transformation. Other industry projects include assisting small and medium enterprises with business/digital transformation via the Social Prosperity Funding (SPF) and the Help to Grow Management Programme. Additionally, Jonathan serves as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Staffordshire University Business School.

Liang Gao Managing Director - RICOMAN

Liang Gao, Managing Director at RICOMAN, brings over a decade of experience to his leadership role in the commercial and industrial lighting manufacturing sector. His deep knowledge of the lighting industry and focus on sustainability have helped make RICOMAN a top player in the market. Under his leadership, RICOMAN is known for its high-quality products and excellent customer service. Liang’s skills in managing change and adopting new technologies have ensured the smooth introduction of sustainable and innovative practices at the company.

Adeel Aslam Technical Director - Bouygues Energies & Services

Adeel is Technical Director at Bouygues Energies & Services. He has a Master of Engineering (Hons) from the University of

Salford in Aeronautical Engineering. Adeel joined Bouygues E&S in 2007 and has held roles across Process Engineering, Project Management, General Management, Business Development, Consulting & Executive Management.

Adeel has a track record in transforming concepts into commercial reality and driving value creation across diverse sectors. Adeel heads up Bouygues’ Multi Discipline Design, Consulting, Estimating & Bid and Planning Departments. Additionally, he spearheads Business Development and Strategy, playing an integral role as a member of the business’s Executive Committee) and Leadership Team.

Beyond Bouygues, Adeel is a Northern Powerhouse (NPH) Investment Champion, SteerCo member of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) Northwest and an active member of the Northwest Business Leadership Team (NWBLT). He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Greater Manchester Electrochemical Hydrogen Cluster (GMEHC), representing industry interests.
