You are invited to attend the #WeStandTogether Conference and Awards Dinner on Monday 30th May 2022 from 6 pm. This will be an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful people and groups who have brought communities together over the last two years. It comes as we commemorate 5 years since the attack at the Manchester Arena, which focused many of us on the need for more cohesion work. Please join them to share and hear stories from across the City Region and announce the recipients of our Affiliate Awards.

The event is open to all and will be hybrid with both in-person and online access, with zoom links for online attendees sent after registration. Those attending in person will have a vegetarian dinner and everyone will have the opportunity to discuss what we all need to do to further our cohesion agenda.
They expect notable charities, activists, students and university representatives, members of GMP and GMCA, local politicians and council leaders, Mayors of GM boroughs, and corporate representatives to be in attendance.

They are pleased to offer 50% discount for the Conference and Awards Dinner. To reserve your discounted tickets, please use the code:

TODAY: Pub Pride 2022 returns at pubs, bars and venues across the UK. Launched in 2021, Pub Pride backs up the Ask For Clive campaign by empowering pubs to celebrate Pride with their local LGBTQ+ community, and show their commitment to inclusivity.

This year’s event will be on Friday May 27th, with partners encouraged to keep flags and bunting up for all of Pride Month.
They’ll be showcasing some of the events, activities and partnerships already confirmed for Pub Pride 2022 during registration period and up to the event. Some fab venues are already in, and they’ll have live music, cabaret, karaoke, fundraisers, even film screenings across the UK. It’s up to you. Signage, support and a welcome space is enough.

Their product range has grown for this year, now with Badges and t-shirts also available for pubs to sell to visitors. All they ask is a 10% donation to Ask For Clive.
Once registered, they’ll send you digital assets, add you to the list of host venues and promote on Social Media.
They’ll have everything from West End pubs to rural inns in the Shetlands. It’s important to them that Pub Pride comes to the people and is a localised event! They had over 200 venues commit in 2021, and the event was mid-pandemic. They aim to get into 1k+ venues in 2022. Monies raised go directly back into Ask For Clive, and they’ll share these 50/50 with local Pride organisations.
Please register at www.pubprideshop.com or contact them at [email protected]

Access 4 All: Thursday 16th June 6.30pm HOME MCR
Statistically, individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ with a cervix have lower cervical screening attendance, putting them at higher risk of missing the signs of cervical cancer. Getting the care we need as LGBTQIA+ people isn’t always easy and many are often discouraged from accessing life-saving services.

The ACES (Alternative Cervical Screening) team at Manchester University have been investigating the test accuracy of urine as an alternative to the ‘smear’ for screening, in the hope that this could increase the number of those who are screened.

Hosted by Manchester Pride in collaboration with Alternative Cervical Screening, Manchester University and LGBT Foundation, this event is an opportunity to learn more about alternative cervical screening and hear the results of ACES LGBTQIA+ survey. In a safe and open environment, there will be an informative panel discussion where experts and LGBTQIA+ community members share their experiences, future research directions and implications for screening within the community.

The event will also celebrate those in the LGBTQIA+ community and their contribution to the project and will feature a special live performance from queer synth-pop performer, HUSK.

What is ACES?

The ACES (Alternative Cervical Screening) LGBTQIA+ project explores the LGBTQIA+ community’s opinion of current cervical screening, barriers to screening and the acceptability of self-screening including a urine test in the future.

Governors for Schools: Board-level volunteering – supporting schools with your expertise.

Governors for Schools is an education charity looking for more people to volunteer onto school governing boards. School governors volunteer at board-level to set the strategic vision for the school; provide challenge and support, and oversee finances. It’s a fantastic opportunity to have a real impact in your community whilst gaining skills that you can bring back to work.

You don’t have to be a parent or have experience in education as there’s lots of support and training that you can access. Schools boards need people with diverse backgrounds and experience so they can reflect the communities they serve.

You can find out more about becoming a school governor and apply online through the charity’s website – www.governorsforschools.org.uk or contact Emma Harris, Senior Partnerships Manager at [email protected]
