Meet the board – Dr Amna Khan -MMU

Our board and committees consist entirely of member firms, and we are thrilled to introduce you to some of the exceptional individuals who contribute to making pro-manchester the remarkable organisation it is today.

Who is Dr Amna Khan?

I am Dr Amna Khan a senior lecturer in consumer behaviour and retail. I am an academic and also contribute to the media, you may have seen me on Channel 5 Documentary. I enjoy doing the documentaries on retailers as the space keeps evolving and changing.

Career highlight?

Working with Canadian Broadcast Corporation, for a piece on the queens death.

Name three words that describe your personality?

Committed, caring and fun.

Why did you decide that you wanted to be part of the pro-manchester board?

pro-manchester is a great community that supports the development of the city. I have grown in this city and believe it has so much to offer others. I want to champion growth and working as a board member allows the opportunity to do this. I am honoured to have been asked to join the board.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

The community they create, the team spirit and drive to achieve great outcomes for Manchester. They champion growth for the city and individuals.

What more would you like to see from pro-manchester this year?

More of what they already do, great networking opportunities and growth.

What are your priorities for 2024?

Focus on supporting efforts to improve DE&I in Manchester.

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

I think that is fascinating how the city never stays still. It is constantly in growth…  especially the focus on growth of tech, the creative sector growth and the focus on DE&I.

I don’t have a favourite saying or quote.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester?

I usually meet in Starbucks on Oxford Rd, or any nice coffee house…
