Member Spotlight: Caroline Monk, Executive Partner – Beever and StruthersTuesday, 8th September 2020
Each week we get to know one of our members slightly better. This week we find out more about Caroline Monk, Executive Partner – Beever and Struthers…
- Favourite quote or saying?
The harder you work the luckier you get.
- Career highlight?
Caught between managing the merger of my previous firm with Beever and Struthers back in 2002/2003, and taking over management of Beever and Struthers with Maria Hallows in 2018.
- Why do you love pro-manchester?
The name gives it away, I am very proud to be part of Manchester, and any organisation that works to promote Manchester as the place to be, whether for work or leisure, will get my support.
- What are you reading at the moment?
Reading might be stretching the reality a bit, but I am trying to get into a book by Jung Chang “Big sister, little sister, red sister” that I was given at the start of lockdown. In reality my reading material at the moment is not something for me to be proud about!
- What are you watching at the moment?
Mourning the finish of the British Sewing Bee, not found a replacement yet!
- Favourite meeting place in Manchester?
Taken to meeting clients/colleagues in the Byrom Street Gardens since lockdown, a beautiful spot with the advantage that I can walk along the canal from our office to get there.
- Favourite lockdown activity?
Spending the day walking with my daughter in the beautiful countryside on the border between Stockport and Derbyshire.
- Most creative meal that you cook?
Not very creative, but my bread making has definitely improved through lockdown, especially when our bread machine was out of action so had to go back to basics.
- Most creative thing you’ve seen on a video call during the lockdown?
Not very creative again, but the video put together of my daughter and her friends performing “Yesterday”, to replace the leavers concert they had planned for 16 March 2020 was very emotional (for me!).
- Most mundane task you’ve completed since being in lockdown?
- What are you looking forward to doing again the most after lockdown?
Feeling able to do something (anything) spontaneously without having to think through and plan ahead.
