Tuesday, 11th May 2021

Each week we get to know one of our members a little better and find our what they’ve been up to during lockdown. This week it’s Cerys Jones, Employer Partnerships  Manager – Manchester Metropolitan University…

Hi all! I’m Cerys Jones and I started as the Employer Partnerships Manager at Manchester Metropolitan University about 3 months ago. I develop partnerships with businesses to generate opportunities across all sectors and professions. I also oversee all employer engagement activities carried out by the various teams within the Careers & Employability Service.

  1. Career highlight

The nature of our work is extremely rewarding, so there are a few career highlights for me. We help students and graduates find employment opportunities whilst helping businesses to find new talent. Seeing graduates flourish in a role and supporting a business to grow is always a highlight.

  1. Why do you love pro-manchester?

There’s so much to get involved in, so many different organisations to collaborate with and it’s just a great way to connect. I’m looking forward to attending the face-to-face networking events over summer as the lockdown restrictions start to ease.

  1. What are you watching at the moment?

‘This is us’ on Amazon Prime. It makes you laugh and cry so get the tissues ready.

  1. Favourite meeting place in Manchester

Ezra and Gil – the best brunch around!

  1. Favourite lockdown activity

I never thought I would enjoy decorating but I painted a few rooms during lockdown. It was therapeutic putting my headphones in, listening to a podcast and zoning out for a while.

  1. Most creative thing you’ve seen on a video call during the lockdown

A zoom treasure hunt.

  1. What are you looking forward to doing again the most after lockdown?

Travelling – I’m hoping my first holiday will be Santorini, fingers crossed!
