Each week we get to know one of our members slightly better. This week we find out more about Jo Scott, Founder / Managing Partner – Truth Creative.

  1. Favourite quote or saying?

Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go. William Feather

  1. Career highlight?

There have been many, from working with the Class of 92 and launching University Academy 92, landing PZ Cussons and our many years with Reebok – but I’d say our biggest achievement is being able to reinvest in our business and purchase our own office property in Manchester City Centre – and during a global pandemic!

  1. Why do you love pro-manchester?

I have to admit, networking does not sit within my comfort zone, but I love pro-manchester because its programme of activity is not only interesting and valuable, but it fosters ‘easier’ ways to network. I think the membership ensures everyone who joins has a mutual understanding and a desire to forge business relationships in the right way.

  1. What are you reading at the moment?

Pocket Full of Do (Chirs Do) and Workshopper (Jonathan Courtney) – I’m all about business books at the moment.

  1. What are you watching at the moment?

Down to Earth – with Zac Effron.

  1. Favourite meeting place in Manchester?

Food-wise it has to be Dishoom. Albert’s Schloss also great – although slightly bias as we did the branding!

  1. Favourite lockdown activity?

Running. I’ve been a runner for almost 12 years, but in lockdown I’ve been able to go most mornings, which is unheard of usually.

  1. Most creative meal that you cook?

I’ll be honest, my mother told me to marry a man who could either dance or cook. I choose the latter and so I am rarely seen in the kitchen.

  1. Most creative thing you’ve seen on a video call during the lockdown?

We took part in the Business Growth Hub Amplify programme, which wrapped up in June – the final session was a full cohort call on Zoom. Each business had to record a Malteser challenge. I’ll leave that there….

  1. Most mundane task you’ve completed since being in lockdown?

Schooling my children. I am definitely not a teacher!

  1. Do you write a blog that you’d like us to share?

Yes – it’s here: https://www.truth-creative.co.uk/news-views

  1. What are you looking forward to doing again the most after lockdown?

Really looking forward to being with the team again, whilst working from home works to an extent I do believe we are social beings and for me, the office is definitely not dead. I’m also looking forward to jetting off on holiday.
