University of Salford
Established in 1896, the University of Salford began as The Royal Technical Institute. We are deeply rooted within Salford, which is one of the world’s first industrial cities. Today we pride ourselves on our unbeatable links to industry, our state-of-the-art facilities and our award-winning academics. Our students and staff have now helped to build a campus which is a warm and welcoming place in which to live and study. Our portfolio of expertise and teaching covers arts, media, creative technologies, business, health, society, science, engineering and the environment. Our School of Health and Society is the biggest School in our University with over 8,000 students. We are one of the largest providers of nursing and midwifery training in the region, and we play a vital role in providing a talent pipeline for future NHS workers as well as wider health related professionals.
Our close links to industry and to major employers help us provide our students and graduates with the necessary skills, experience and confidence to go on to fulfilling careers. Our academic teams are complemented by our professional services colleagues, who provide the expertise which keep our activities running. We work in partnership with the Students’ Union who represent over 26,000 students studying with us. Our focus is on inclusive innovation, and through our strong partnerships we are advancing healthcare, assisting with energy affordability, improving sound environments, driving economic growth, developing a workforce pipeline and shaping policy. We play a critical role in tackling important issues faced by our communities on our doorstep and globally, collaborating with others to advance social justice and drive long-term systemic change.
The University of Salford works with businesses, from SMEs through to public organisation, non-profits and large corporates to drive innovation and growth using the university’s world-class research, facilities and connections. Our services support businesses on their journey, whether they are looking to develop a new product or service, become more productive and sustainable, scale up their activity or upskill their workforce. The benefit of working with a university is our ability to draw upon knowledge from a vast range of sectors and disciplines to bring them together and provide companies with a specific business solution. We can also act as an academic partner on collaborative projects, working with businesses to access the many funding streams available to companies.
