Leading independent law firm Brabners has been announced as the Official Legal Services Partner of the Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships, taking place at the Manchester Aquatics Centre from 31 July to 6 August 2023.

Brabners, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Lancashire, is partnering with the Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships as part of its mission to make the difference for its clients, its people and the communities it serves.

Its sports law team has been setting standards and providing specialist sports legal advice for over 40 years, advising international federations, national governing bodies, county associations, clubs, owners, rights holders, intermediaries and athletes. Its full service offering includes governance and constitutional matters, sport specific regulation, disciplinary, employment, safeguarding, commercial, real estate, litigation and the hosting of major events.

The partnership builds on Brabners’ award-winning commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, which is woven into the firm’s culture.

Katie Chapman, Event Director of the World Para Swimming Championships, said: There is a tremendous alignment in values between ourselves and Brabners, particularly given their mission to ‘make the difference’, turning ambition into reality, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. It’s another example of working with an award-winning organisation that is based in the North and who will provide superb support to the event.”

Lydia Edgar, Partner and Head of Sports sector at Brabners said: “We are proud to be partnering with the Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships. We have huge respect for the Championships having represented British Swimming for many years and we’re pleased to play our part in bringing Para swimming to a global audience from the North.”

The Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships will be the biggest Para swimming event outside of the Paralympic Games and one that could be influential for many on the road to Paris 2024. Manchester will be the third city to host the World Championships, following London and Glasgow.  London 2019 saw over 600 swimmers from 77 nations compete with 188 records broken, including 39 world records and over 143 million people watching around the world – with the stage set for more of the same this summer.
