Bruntwood launches new graduate scheme to nurture next generation talent

31st January 2019, 10:53 am

A new graduate scheme designed to nurture outstanding talent and give candidates the opportunity to shape their ideal career has been launched by Bruntwood.

The leading regional property company has developed the three-year scheme to attract graduates across a range of industries from property to design and marketing, who share its values and want to support its purpose of creating thriving cities.

Rather than assigning participants to one specific role or discipline, the scheme will work on a rotational basis to give graduates the opportunity to gain broad, rounded experience across a diverse range of specialisms, from marketing to property management. The Bruntwood team will work closely with those on the scheme to create tailor-made development plans, identify their strengths and establish their personal career paths.

The scheme will also focus on helping graduates to develop skills like innovation, emotional intelligence, collaboration, customer focus and critical thinking, to give them an edge in the workplace.

In year one, scheme participants will undertake multiple rotations, in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Bruntwood business, build relationships and discover what they most enjoy being involved with. Years two and three will focus on skills development and project work as graduates hone their preferred career path in accordance with their strengths and interests.

Adele Weaver, Head of Learning and Development at Bruntwood, said: “We’re really excited about the opportunities that this new graduate scheme will open up for participants and for Bruntwood. We don’t expect graduates to know exactly what they want to be yet, or the type of role/career they want to have what’s more important to us is finding people who share our way of thinking – who genuinely care about the communities and cities in which they work.  Of course, we want people who have a strong work ethic and a hunger to learn lots about the different parts of our business. Our scheme is designed to help those people to learn, grow and pursue their passions, finding the perfect career fit for them with Bruntwood.

“Bruntwood has always had a culture of ‘growing its own’. Many of our senior team started at Bruntwood as new graduates. The new scheme will help to keep this cycle going but we want everyone who is part of the Bruntwood team to have the opportunity to learn and develop and we’re always looking for new ways of helping this to happen – we’ve just launched two types of learning loans for employees, for instance. People can apply for a Pursue Your Passions loan, if they want, for example, to take up a new hobby or learn a new language, or a Learn and Grow loan if they want to take part in a course related to their role. Initiatives like these, along with the graduate scheme, underpin our commitment to continuously invest in our people.”

To qualify for the graduate scheme candidates must either already be a degree level graduate, or currently studying and due to finish their course no later than August 2019. The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 10th February 2019 applications will be reviewed throughout February 2019, with interviews and assessment events due to take place during March 2019.
