CGI and GE Healthcare are joining forces to support health and care providers to accelerate their digital transformation journeys in the UK. CGI, one of the largest independent IT and business consulting services firms in the world, will support the implementation of digital solutions as GE Healthcare’s chosen systems integrator across a number of important initiatives.

The partnership brings together CGI’s consulting and collaborative drive with GE Healthcare’s world-leading integrated technology and digital capability in the health and care sector. It will take a ‘whole system’ approach, connecting communities with health and care services and integrate sustainable practices for the future. Importantly, the partnership will support a shift towards more community-based practices that will empower people to be cared for at home, while providing an enhanced quality of care and better working practices for health professionals.

The initial aim of the partnership will see CGI and GE Healthcare focus on the rapid adoption of digital healthcare through imaging networks and digital cities. GE Healthcare will contribute solutions, data and artificial intelligence capabilities and expertise, while CGI will provide consulting services, act as a systems integrator and provide infrastructure and support. Both companies are working together to set up a world leading Digital Operations Co-ordination Centre capability, enabling remote patient monitoring, asset management and increased capacity for the workforce. This centre will utilise data, artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics, enabling and supporting improved outcomes where they are needed most. The partnership will also provide unique community-based technology platforms for cancer diagnostic centres.

Justene Ewing, Vice President, Health and Care at CGI in the UK & Australia said: “Health services around the world are facing unprecedented challenges, and as a result, the rate at which these services are evolving and becoming more digitised is increasing rapidly. Due to the impact of COVID-19, there is a backlog of people needing support from health and care providers, placing significant financial pressures on our systems and the workforce.

“Patients expect seamless, on-demand services, however many areas of health and care services are experiencing a great deal of pressure due to the demand on resources, so now is the time for key providers to act to create a sustainable future for healthcare, for all involved in the processes. Our partnership with GE Healthcare will empower health and care services to offer improved patient care, create a more connected experience and ease the time constraints and financial pressures that many providers are facing.”

David Labajo, VP Healthcare Digital at GE Healthcare said: “As we look to the future of health and care services, we are committed to bring the most innovative and valuable solutions by building partnerships that accelerate healthcare transformation, combining the best of our capabilities with the expertise of industry leading partners. We are therefore delighted to be partnering with CGI to support care providers across communities as they get set to digitise. We will work closely with CGI to develop the best solutions for the sector, ensuring that we deliver future-proof services that are robust, effective and have a real-world impact on patient care. Our goal is to create a more connected experience, so health and care professionals can dedicate more of their time to their patients, as well as improving health outcomes and quality of life for citizens. Our technology and solutions will be discreet and vital in support of better care.”

CGI and GE Healthcare’s partnership comes following positive reactions to the organisations’ innovative work together from healthcare services more widely in the UK. The work of both organisations will also ensure that as cities and towns in the UK develop to become smarter and more connected, health and care systems will seamlessly integrate to create the best possible care experience within communities.
