Manchester law firm Clarke Willmott LLP is hosting a construction masterclass looking at key developments in the law on June 20.

The seminar will examine recent and significant ‘hot topics’ in the industry and the practical effect that these developments will have in the future.

Charlie Thompson of Keating Chambers will be giving a presentation on the practical implications of the latest court decisions.

The event, at Clarke Willmott’s office in Spring Gardens, is aimed at construction industry professionals including employers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants.

“Construction is an ever-evolving and fast paced niche area of the law,” said Clarke Willmott construction partner, James Driver.

“Those working in the industry need to be up to speed with the latest developments in order to understand how these will affect them and their projects in practise.

“Attendees can expect to gain an up to date understanding of key developments in the industry and important changes to the law.”

The seminar will look at the practical implications of the latest court decision relating to ‘smash and grab’ adjudications; the treatment of liquidated damages in construction contracts; injunctions and adjudication following a recent Court of Appeal decision; additional grounds for resisting a stay of adjudication enforcement; and, the Courts’ treatment of ‘new home’ warranties.

The session will be practically focused with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and meet Clarke Willmott’s construction team, as well as to meet fellow industry professionals over drinks.
