Cowgills has announced a number of new appointments as part of the continued development of its rapidly growing deal advisory team.

Sorina Gheorghita joins the transaction services team as an associate director from PwC where she spent six years in its deals insights and analytics team. Sorina brings a wealth of experience in helping clients use data analytics to prepare a business for sale and providing focused buy-side diligence on the key drivers of a target’s performance.

Commenting on her appointment, Andrew Nelson, Cowgills partner and head of transaction services, said: “It is incredibly exciting to have Sorina join us at Cowgills as she brings skills not often seen outside of the Big 4 accountancy firms. Her experience in data analytics, and the insight that gives us, brings both breadth and depth to our service offering and enables us to continue to maximise value for all of our clients.”

He continued: “Sorina’s appointment demonstrates how Cowgills can provide the full range of deal advisory services including high quality due diligence and sell side assistance at a level which is usually only seen in the Big 4, and we now have one of the largest deal advisory teams in the north.”

“This area of the market is highly active, and we are acting on both the buy and sell side for many private equity and corporate clients with a strong pipeline of work through the summer and into the autumn, so Sorina joins us at a very busy and exciting time for the business.”

Sorina added: “I am excited to have recently joined the talented team at Cowgills and I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience to help strengthen our offering to clients. Leveraging data and analytics will provide tangible benefits to clients who may be looking to provide increased insight into the value drivers of their business or seeking to understand and reduce risk.”

Sorina’s appointment follows the recruitment of Jacob Maitland as assistant manager and Daisy Wright as executive who also joined Cowgills from Big 4 firms.

Together with transaction services the deal advisory team includes lead advisory, debt advisory, post deal services and business funding and the team has led on some of the region’s most notable recent deals advising Handl on the acquisition of IPRS Group Limited as well as LDC’s investment into Marmalade Game Studio and eBay’s recent acquisition of Known Origin.
