19th January 2021, 10:16 am

Employability charity, Smart Works, has launched its annual fundraising challenge to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021. The charity, a member of pro-manchester, works to support unemployed women across Greater Manchester gain the skills and confidence to get back into work, and is encouraging organisations or groups of friends and family to enter teams into their cycling challenge.

  • Cycling starts on 1st March ending on Monday 8th March to celebrate International Women’s Day
  • Teams of 5 join forces to cycle 500 miles – friends, colleagues, social cyclists or spinners in converted home gyms !
  • Teams raise money to support unemployed women “get the clothes, get the confidence, get the job” through Smart Works GM
  • If you can’t pedal for a purpose, feel free to run, swim or walk this year

Your support is needed more than ever this year, thanks to the surge in unemployment, coupled with mental health challenges.

The challenge can be completed on any kind of bike – outside or on a stationary exercise bike in the home or office in line with current lockdown regulations. The challenge can also be done as a run, if preferred.

Sign up on the Smart Works website or if you have any questions, please contact Sarah at [email protected].

Sign-ups costs £5 per person (£25 per team) and each team will receive a welcome pack with fundraising advice and guidance, cycling tips and a guide on completing the challenge. The first 100 teams to register will also receive a limited edition Cycle for Smart Works 2021 t-shirt.
