1 December 2020 – DLA Piper is pleased to announce that two of its Pensions partners have been recognised at the Women in Pensions Awards 2020, at a virtual ceremony on 25 November by Professional Pensions, the UK’s leading publication for the occupational pensions industry. Manchester-based partner Claire Bell was named Mentor of the Year, while London-based partner Tamara Calvert was named Lawyer of the Year.

The judging panel highlighted that Claire “has done it all. From setting up a successful mentoring scheme to leading her firm’s women’s networks across two offices [Manchester and Liverpool] and taking the helm organizing events for International Women’s Day”, and praised Tamara’s achievements including “acting as a role model within her businesses and her work leading on major buy-in deals”.

Now in its third year, the Women in Pensions Awards celebrate and recognise the achievements of women in the pensions sector, shining a spotlight on the work of inspirational and ground-breaking women in the sector. Jane Smith (Manchester) and Amrit Mclean (London) were also shortlisted for awards, with DLA Piper receiving seven nominations for four of its lawyers overall.

DLA Piper’s UK Head of Pensions, Ben Miller (Liverpool) said: “We are thrilled to see Tamara and Claire commended for their exceptional work, leadership and contributions to the firm. Seeing so many of our talented lawyers being nominated for these important awards is a huge achievement for DLA Piper and for the representation of women in the legal profession.”
