The Manchester office of Gateley Legal has advised Inspired Energy plc on the sale of the group’s non-core SME division for a total consideration of up to £10.5 million. The transaction included the sale of Inspired’s non-core subsidiaries, Energisave Online Limited, KWH Consulting Limited and Simply Business Energy Limited.

Inspired Energy is the leading consultant for energy procurement, utility cost optimisation and legislative compliance in the UK and Ireland. The firm was established in 2000 and has since grown to become one of the country’s largest commercial energy advisors.

The disposal has been executed to allow Inspired Energy to focus exclusively on providing expert solutions and cost-effective services to its corporate energy consumers in its core, corporate markets.

The deal was led by Corporate partner and head of the Gateley Legal Manchester office, Paul Jefferson and included corporate senior associate, Leigh Whittaker and banking senior associate, Christopher Lister.

Paul Jefferson said: “The sale of Inspired’s SME division allows the group to maintain its focus on its core aim, to provide full market coverage to its corporate client base and continue to implement its successful buy & build strategy. We are delighted to have played our part in the delivery on that strategy over many years working in partnership with the executive management team at Inspired.”

The Manchester office of Gateley Legal employs more than 200 professional advisers from its city base in King Street. The team provides legal and business advice to companies of all sizes and in 2020 is celebrating ten years of being in Manchester.
