Ho-Ho-How you can help!

Leadership Through Sport & Business (LTSB) is a national social mobility charity that gives bright, ambitious young people who face disadvantage access to careers in accounting and finance. LTSB started up in Manchester back in 2016 but we also have cohorts in London, Birmingham, and Liverpool that have helped a number of young people into Apprenticeships over the years.

Our recent 2018 Cohort are 4 months into Studying their Level 2 AAT at Oldham College, and in just 3 months time will be ready to start their own Journey into a Career in Accountancy and Finance. Our Pre Apprenticeship Programme helps our cohorts be prepared and ready for the world of work by running sessions to improve their CV’s, Prep them for Interviews, Give them an insight into the world of Business etc, but we cannot do what we do without the help of our Supporters. This Festive period we are asking Manchester to help us on our Mission to give young people in your community a chance to shine, and we thought we would highlight a few of the ways you can.

Ho-Ho-How you can help!

There are four areas where you can make a difference:

Employment

We have been working with our 2018 Intake for three months now, and the pre-apprenticeship programme will conclude in early February. They’re ready to work. In Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and London, if you or someone you know is committed to social mobility and is looking for a junior finance apprentice, please get in touch!

Funding

Whether it’s an individual donation through our Paypal page, or an introduction to a potential corporate supporter, your financial contribution drives our ability to change lives. Even small amounts are vital. Around 20% of our intake come from complex backgrounds: they have been in Care, or are a Carer; are in sheltered accommodation or have been victims of crime or abuse. We provide additional emergency financial support to make sure their past doesn’t prevent the future they’ve worked so hard for – your donation can be critical.

Venues

We need spaces for our young people to acclimatise to unfamiliar corporate environments, or even just for our growing team to have a meaningful meeting without competing with a nearby barista! If you can host us, please get in touch!

Volunteering

Our young people are brilliant. But don’t just believe us, come meet them! Start with a one-off commitment like lunch-time mentoring or mock interviews, and we’re sure you’ll want to do more – you’ll make a meaningful contribution, and develop your own skills too. If you are interested, contact Cat on link above.

Young people in the areas where we work need help to overcome a variety of barriers, lack of opportunity and often generations of unemployment. We provide them with a real chance and a helping hand to ignite their spark and to develop into well rounded members of their community and dedicated, hard working employees who can ultimately become leaders, movers and shakers.

If you or anyone you know is interested in any of the above please get in touch with myself Shamaine Armstrong – LTSB Manchester Cohort Manager ([email protected]).
