Introduce yourself

I’m Abbie, Business Development Manager at MHDL. My journey into the world of business development has been an exciting one, shaped by a mix of international experience and a deep-rooted love for hospitality and people .Before settling in Manchester after the pandemic, I spent three years working abroad — an experience that gave me a global perspective on service, communication, and relationship-building. When I returned to the UK, I joined the MHDL family as Reservations Manager at Canto, later moving to EGN Leeds. It was during that time I discovered my passion for business development, which led to my internal promotion to BDM for the group.

Career highlight

A definite highlight has been progressing through the company to become Business Development Manager. Growing within MHDL and taking on a role that aligns perfectly with my strengths and passions has been incredibly rewarding. I love seeing the impact of my work, from forming new partnerships to helping businesses discover and enjoy what our venues have to offer.

Name three words that describe your personality

Driven, reliable and creative.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

I am yet to discover for myself this answer, however I can’t wait to become part of this incredible community & continue building my network with like minded professionals in the city!

What are your priorities for 2026?

Priorities for 2026 are to continue to expand our corporate client base, the rollout of our digital corporate discount card, deliver exceptional events & bookings for all of our sites!

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

A key highlight I would like to touch upon is when the huts for the Christmas Markets were installed, and with El Gato taking part for our fourth year, it was an important time in our diaries.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester

There are so many amazing places across Manchester, I particularly like Off The Press in Ancoats, they do great coffee, sandwiches & salads & it is the perfect setting for a casual meeting both virtually or in person.

Are there any particular types of businesses you would like to meet?

I am open to meeting people from all kinds of businesses & learning about different industries & ways in which we can partner & work together. Whether that be a pop up in your office space, rolling out our digital corporate card to your team or hosting your next event in one of our sites I’d love to chat!
