Member Spotlight: Abbie Soutar, Commercial Director – RGF Staffing UK

Hi! My name is Abbie Soutar, and I am the Commercial Director for RGF Staffing UK – the parent company of Advantage Resourcing, a Manchester-based Recruitment and Payroll company. I’ve spent over 5 years in the North-West Recruitment industry. Before joining RGF, I worked for FTSE 250 and a Private Equity Backed Recruitment Companies.

Career highlight:My personal career highlight is achieving Director level before turning 30! I’ve never been driven by job titles, but to be given the responsibility for UK commercial planning and operations was a career bucket list item ticked off.

Name three words that describe your personality: Animated, Curious, and Fun.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester? One of the things I love about Pro-Manchester is the diversity of the community. It is a melting pot of businesses operating in different industries, from SMEs to FTSE’s, unified by one goal- scaling the Manchester business economy and shouting about the professional talent the region offers! The MiMA awards, in particular, never disappoint.

What are your priorities for 2024? My priority for 2024 is to build an incredible team. We’ve developed an ambitious growth plan focussed on client service, and to deliver that, we’ll be bringing in fresh minds to work alongside our existing colleagues. My goal is to create a team that delivers and I want to give them all the opportunities to accelerate their careers at the same time.

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment? One of the most important things happening in Manchester is increased investment capital into local companies through Private Equity or Venture Capital. Manchester remains the 2nd biggest geographical area for this growth, just behind London. We must keep shining the light on the brilliant companies and hardworking professionals behind the businesses driving this influx of investment into our City.
