Member Spotlight: Amy Dewsnip, Sales Manager, Kimpton Clocktower

Introduce yourself

I’m Amy, and I am delighted to have recently joined Kimpton Clocktower as Sales Manager. I’ve been a part of the Manchester scene for several years now, starting out at The Lowry Hotel and most recently working as Corporate Account Manager at Manchester Central Convention Centre.

I originally trained as an actor (I’m a very proud graduate of both East 15 Acting School and Manchester School of Theatre), which might seem like an unconventional route into hospitality sales. However, the longer I’m in this industry, the more I see the connection between these two seemingly apposite worlds. Whether it’s public speaking, building relationships, or understanding how to connect with people, great sales is all about storytelling – and that’s where I really feel I come into my own.

Career highlight

Making my TV debut as an undertaker with a serious attitude on Coronation Street aside (buy me a drink and I might provide the evidence), I have to say that I don’t think I have one singular career highlight … yet.

I feel incredibly proud and fortunate to have found a second professional pathway. I’ve always been very tenacious, but I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance of some truly incredible mentors who have championed me along the way. In many ways, any success I’ve had is a testament to them – and to the Manchester spirit more broadly. It’s a city built on collaboration, community, and people wanting to see each other succeed. So honestly, without trying to be too earnest, my biggest highlight is simply being here, continuing to grow, and the opportunity to represent a beautiful property in a city where things really are done differently.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

What really stands out to me about pro-manchester is the openness of the network. Whether you’re early in your career or have decades of experience, there’s a real sense that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

It’s much more than your conventional networking organisation; it’s a community that brings together businesses and individuals from across Greater Manchester to connect, share ideas, and create opportunities together.

What are your priorities for 2026?

Being more intentional with my time – saying yes to the opportunities that genuinely excite and challenge me, while also making space for the people that matter most.

It’s also been a whilst since I was in the hotel game, so a big priority for me is re-establishing myself within the sector and building meaningful relationships.

Aside from that, it’s really just the usual : learn six languages, run a marathon, swim the channel, become a millionaire, win a Nobel Prize and totally nail the work/life balance thing!

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

I think it’s impossible to not be excited by Manchester at the moment. The city-region has continued to outperform many parts of the UK, and that sense of momentum is palpable. Where parts of the country feel drift and decline, Manchester continues to strive, some would say punch above its weight even, not just economically but culturally too.

Manchester increasingly feels like a city with real confidence in its future, and it’s clearly infectious. You only have to look at the calibre of opportunities the city is attracting. From hosting the Brit Awards and the MOBO Awards, to celebrations like La Mercè coming to Manchester, alongside major international conferences and associations choosing the city as a destination. Add to that the ever-growing skyline, ongoing regeneration projects, and investment in grassroots community development, and there’s a real sense of action everywhere you look.

There’s also something quite fitting about the city once known as the engine room of the Industrial Revolution now positioning itself at the forefront of new industries and innovation. Manchester has always been a city built on ideas, reinvention, and ambition, and now that energy is being channelled into areas like technology, life sciences, digital, and advanced manufacturing.

What’s unique in all this however, is that, despite all the growth, Manchester has managed to retain a clear sense of identity. Whether it’s bringing our transport back under public ownership or watching two brothers from Longsight bring an entire city to a standstill when they stepped out at Heaton Park last year, there’s a very clear sense of what Manchester stands for.

Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?

I’d particularly love to connect with more SMEs across Manchester and the wider North-West. So much of the city’s energy comes from independent and growing businesses, and I think they’re absolutely vital to Manchester’s continued success.

One of the things I love most about working at Kimpton Clocktower is being right in the heart of the city. I’m really passionate about building relationships not just with major corporates, but with our neighbours and local businesses too, as well as the exciting new industries continuing to grow here.
