Introduce yourself:

My name is Hans Middelweerd, I’m 51 years old, married, and the proud father of two children aged 22 and 19. I live in Wijk bij Duurstede, a small historic town in the heart of the Netherlands.
I’m one of the founders of ResearchManager, a company headquartered in Deventer (NL), with a new office opened this year in Greater Manchester, where we now spend part of our time.
At ResearchManager, our mission is to accelerate and optimise clinical research worldwide, so that new treatments and insights become available faster for everyone. Because healthy ageing starts with progress in research — and we make that progress possible.

We do this through our self-developed Clinical Research Suite, a SaaS solution built on two pillars:

  • one for data collection in clinical research,
  • one for managing processes, documents, and compliance throughout research operations

In the Netherlands, we are market leaders, and we are now expanding internationally, with the UK as one of our main focus areas. For more information, visit www.my-researchmanager.com.

Career highlight:

Without a doubt, the highlight of my career has been founding ResearchManager 13 years ago together with my business partners Paul and Linsey.

Name three words that describe your personality:

Integrity, cheerful, and decisiveness.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

Pro-Manchester offers an outstanding network in Greater Manchester and has the ability to organise inspiring events that connect people in a personal and meaningful way. They create truly warm introductions — highly recommended.

What are your priorities for 2025?

Our key priorities are to become an active part of the Life Sciences & Health ecosystem in Greater Manchester. We want to connect with people and organisations through events, trade fairs, and networking opportunities, and hopefully build long-term relationships. At the same time, we want to give back by supporting researchers and start-ups wherever we can.

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

From the Netherlands, it’s hard to judge what drives Manchester the most — apart from, of course, the eternal battle between the Citizens and the Red Devils.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester?

I don’t really have one favourite spot — there are many! I particularly enjoy the variety of pubs and restaurants across the city.

Are their any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?

On a personal level, I enjoy connecting with people who share genuine curiosity and energy. Professionally, I’d love to meet anyone involved in clinical research — in the broadest sense of the term.
