Introduce yourself
I’m Ian Yates, a sales, business development, and client relationship professional with over 20 years in sales and retail, 10 years in SaaS solutions, and a career-long focus on innovation. I have recently taken up the role of UK Business Development Manager for Galvia AI to expand Galvia’s client base in the UK and empower retailers with AI-powered decision intelligence. That means connecting all retail data into a single source of truth and turning it into insights, predictions, and real-time prompts — helping retailers drive revenue growth, improve margins, and boost efficiency.
Career highlight
I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most iconic retailers and brands, and today I’m excited to be part of Galvia AI, where it’s inspiring to be at the forefront as retailers embrace the next great AI-driven retail revolution.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?
The support and connectivity are second to none. Pro Manchester has been a huge champion of Galvia AI, welcoming us with open arms and creating a community that thrives on collaboration and being progressive.
What are your priorities for 2025?
My key focus is on expanding our retail client base and showcasing to UK retailers the transformational power of AI. The goal is clear: build momentum in 2025 to deliver even greater retail success in 2026.
What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?
It was fantastic to see Manchester Fashion Week back on the calendar last month, and congrats to the team there. Galvia AI was proud to be a sponsor of this vibrant event that celebrates innovation and creativity in the city’s thriving fashion industry. A lot is happening in fashion retail, and we are excited to be a part of it.
Favourite meeting place in Manchester
My favourite place to meet in Manchester is the Northern Quarter for food and drink with friends. It has some of the best bars in Manchester to grab a beer after a long week and then head to a local gig.
Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?
I’m keen to connect with UK-wide retailers (typically 5–50 stores, turnover £10m–£120m) across sectors such as grocery, fashion, homeware, pharmacy, and speciality retail. My focus is on engaging with senior decision-makers — from CEOs and Heads of Retail to CFOs, IT Directors, and Heads of Digital. Whether operating online, offline, or both, I’m eager to meet forward-thinking retailers looking to leverage AI to unlock new value.
