Introduce yourself
My name is Neil Marshall and I am a Business Development Manager at Stephensons Solicitors LLP. I joined the firm in 2016 after more than 30 years in commercial and corporate banking with NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland. I work closely with businesses and professional advisers, helping to connect clients with the legal, financial and commercial support they need to achieve their objectives.
Career highlight
Joining Stephensons Solicitors LLP and being able to combine my banking experience, professional network and commercial understanding to help businesses access funding, legal support and professional advice. One particular highlight was helping to secure alternative funding on a business acquisition that was at risk of falling through, enabling the transaction to complete successfully.

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?
The opportunity to build genuine relationships with like-minded professionals from across Greater Manchester and the wider North West, creating opportunities to collaborate and support businesses together.
What are your priorities for 2026?
To continue strengthening relationships with professional advisers across the region, develop new referral partnerships, support more businesses with their growth ambitions and expand the network of contacts available to Stephensons’ clients.
What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?
The continued investment being attracted into Greater Manchester is creating exciting opportunities for businesses across a range of sectors. Whether it is the regeneration of areas such as Victoria North, the proposed transformation of the Old Trafford area, or the growth of Manchester’s innovation and life sciences economy through the Oxford Road Corridor, there is a real sense of ambition across the city region. As somebody who works closely with businesses and professional advisers, I am particularly interested in how that investment translates into business growth, job creation and opportunities for collaboration across the professional community.

Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet
I am particularly keen to meet accountants, financial advisers, corporate finance advisers, commercial finance brokers, property professionals and business owners who value collaboration and long-term relationships. I enjoy working with advisers who are focused on helping clients achieve sustainable growth and who see the benefit of building a strong professional network around their clients.
