Member Spotlight: Toni Bowie, Managing Consultant at William James Recruitment

1. Introduce yourself

Hi, I’m Toni, Managing Consultant at William James Recruitment. I have been in recruitment for over 2 years now having spent 15 years as a motor fraud lawyer.  I specialise in recruitment for defendant law firms nationally across their Personal Injury, Insurance, Professional Negligence and Property Damage teams and have strong market knowledge with lots of friends still in the profession!

I have really enjoyed the career move from lawyer to recruiter, having had lots of support here from everyone in the office, my team to the CEO – no question is too silly – and believe me there’s been a lot of them!

I now manage the Insurance desk with my colleague Danielle, we have grown our team from just the 2 of us to a strong specialist team of 5 as well as servicing our clients with their recruitment needs.

In my spare time I have a crazy 4-year-old daughter to keep occupied and 2 cats and an avid Manchester City supporter!

Progressing within 2 years from Recruitment Consultant to Managing Consultant and having nice clients to support with their growth plans.

4. What’s the best thing about Pro-Manchester

Being able to network with interesting people you wouldn’t bump in to otherwise.   The events are always well organised, with fascinating speakers in nice venues. I really enjoy attending the annual Made in Manchester Awards as they raise and celebrate talent from the best place in the world!

5. What are your priorities for 2025

Carry on working hard for my clients all year to place lawyers and Partners with them to grow their business.

6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

The growth in the City from new apartments, to restaurants, shops and we even have a City Centre park now at Mayfield.  Salford Quays being a high-profile hub now with ITV and the BBC moving up here from London shows just how exciting it is to be here.

Manchester is booming and home to the best football team in the land…and all the world (if you know, you know!)
