TalkTalk Business responds to greater demand for bandwidth as UK eyes recovery

TalkTalk Business has revealed a sharp rise in business broadband usage during the Covid-19 pandemic, with average monthly usage rising 25 per cent, from 172GB to 212GB, between March 2020 and March 2021. This level of usage dipped only slightly during the UK’s national lockdowns from March to June and November to December. Sectors that showed the largest increase in usage were individuals (covering homeworkers and small business owners), construction and mining.

As demand for greater speeds increased during 2020, almost 10,000 of TalkTalk Business’ customers upgraded to higher bandwidth products. This has accelerated the adoption of TalkTalk Business’ fastest solutions yet, available to purchase directly by organisations planning to accelerate their speeds.

With the UK economy predicted to grow at its fastest rate in more than 70 years, TalkTalk Business has introduced a number of limited offers to help businesses’ recovery plans.* This includes Business Ultrafast Fibre technology – also known as G.Fast – which bridges the gap between traditional and full fibre connectivity, allowing organisations to increase speeds regardless of whether they have copper or fibre infrastructure. To help boost productivity of employees working from home and support businesses of all sizes as workplaces open up, TalkTalk Business is offering £4 off its Ultrafast Business Fibre packages for 12 months, with prices starting at £25.95 per month.**

Along with TalkTalk Business’ Business Full Fibre technology – also known as FTTP – these packages enable businesses to benefit from the highest speeds available to them. Business Full Fibre takes advantage of existing fibre connectivity, enabling employees to benefit from download speeds of up to 900Mbps***, compared to a UK average of 64 Mbps****, making it suitable for organisations with ecommerce platforms or employees using video conferencing solutions while at home. For a limited time, businesses can take advantage of 3 months free across all speed variants.*****

Jon Nowell, director of small business and Fibre for Every Business at TalkTalk Business, said: “Last year highlighted just how critical fast, reliable connectivity is for businesses and their employees. Our team have been working hard to create solutions that help organisations of all sizes to stay agile, support their employees and boost productivity – whether they have access to full fibre or not.

“Levelling the playing field when it comes to connectivity is part of TalkTalk Business’ core mission – the pandemic has only increased this need across the UK. Meeting it will be vital to the recovery of our businesses over the coming months and so we are pleased to be offering more businesses the chance to experience faster, more reliable connectivity at a more accessible price.”
