Introduce yourself
Hi there! I’m Melissa Wong, and I’ve recently stepped into the role of Programmes and Events Manager here at pro-manchester. I have been part of the pro-manchester network for only 3 months and I’m so thrilled to be part of the team.
Three words that describe pro-manchester
If I had to sum up pro-manchester in three words, it would be Welcoming, Connected & Powerful.
One thing people don’t realise about what we do
Our events are more than just slides and coffee. All the pro-manchester team put real effort and thought behind every interaction. Remembering faces, understanding what people want from membership and ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued and part of a community.
What is the best part of working with the Manchester business community?
It’s easily the people. There is a specific kind of passion that Manchester business leaders have for this region and it makes every project feel meaningful.
Coffee order or go-to lunch spot in Manchester?
For a sweet treat or a gift, I adore Dormouse Chocolates on Deansgate Mews.
Favourite pro-manchester event and why?
On day 3 on the job, I got to attend the MiMAs and wow what an electric atmosphere and amazing community! There’s lots more events for me to experience but the MiMAs has my vote (for now!).
What excites you most about the future of pro-manchester?
For me, the huge potential in the EDI programmes is really exciting, and how we can engage with members from across the network through events, initiatives, partnerships and training…which brings me on to the Skills Academy plans – watch this space!
