National law firm TLT has been ranked in the top ten most influential law firms in clean energy M&A worldwide in Clean Energy Pipeline’s 2025 Clean Energy Legal League Table. The firm has also ranked 4th in the top 20 global law firms by number of M&A deals, reflecting TLT’s position as one of the most active clean energy advisers across the globe.
The Clean Energy Legal League Table ranks the world’s top 20 law firms that acted as a legal adviser on clean energy M&A deals in 2024. The annual ranking includes law firms who have advised a mix of developers, companies and investors on transaction for global clean energy project developments and technologies.
TLT is ranked in the top ten most active and most influential law firms globally for playing a central role in enabling renewable energy deployment across the world. This includes advising on the successful completion of 40 renewable energy projects, each of which is playing a key part in supporting the UK’s energy transition.
Some of those projects have included advising Thrive Renewables on its acquisition of the 57MW Whitelaw Brae windfarm; advising Innova on the sale of Stokeford Solar Farm in Dorset to a fund managed by Schroders Greencoat; and advising Lightsource bp on the sale of its largest UK solar project and co-located energy storage project to Schroders Greencoat.
Kay Hobbs, Partner in TLT’s Future Energy team commented: “2024 was another milestone year for clean energy in the UK with renewable energy generating more than 50% of the UK’s electricity for four consecutive quarters.
“TLT continues to be very actively involved in the UK’s clean energy story, as evidenced by our ranking in this year’s Clean Energy Pipeline’s 2025 Clean Energy Legal League Table. Despite some challenges in 2024 such as interest rates, electoral uncertainty and the start of grid reform, M&A activity in the clean energy sector has remained very strong and investor appetite remains high.
“We are delighted to have been recognised as one of the most influential law firms for clean energy M&A and for being one of the most active law firms in terms of number of deals in the UK. With activity in the clean energy market set to remain buoyant, we are looking forward to another successful year for the sector and our clients.”
