What role should faith communities play in promoting racial justice in the UK?

On Wednesday 15th October Aurora Inc. is hosting a powerful roundtable with Rev. Pat Jackson, founder of the US-based Interwoven Congregations network, as part of his first UK visit.
This invitation-only event will bring together faith leaders, civic leaders, and community organisers for a timely and strategic discussion around how faith communities, and those working alongside them, can be active agents in the fight for racial justice.
In the face of growing political division, and the co-opting of faith and national identity to justify fear and exclusion, many are asking:
Where should faith communities stand? And how can civic society respond together?
With visible tensions such as anti-migrant protests outside asylum seeker hotels, and a growing public fatigue with “DEI,” this roundtable will explore:
- The moral and historical responsibility of faith communities to lead on justice
- How leaders across faith, civic, and grassroots sectors can collaborate effectively
- What a UK version of Interwoven Congregations might look like
- Practical ways to build sustained partnerships across racial and religious lines
This roundtable is specifically curated for individuals who:
- Lead or represent a faith group (any denomination or tradition)
- Work in racial equity, community organising, or public service
- Have a track record of values-based leadership and a desire to co-create lasting change
This is not a public event, and space is strictly limited to 30 participants to ensure depth and dialogue.
