The Great Convergence, by Richard Pennington, CEO FourNet

You’ll already know, I’m sure, about the so-called Great Resignation caused by the shifting sands in our post-pandemic working landscape.

Have you, however, also heard about the Great Convergence, caused by the same pandemic from which we are, thankfully, now emerging?

Aside from the many tragic and unfortunate outcomes around the world, COVID-19 also sparked an acceleration of convergence of all aspects of IT and communications, with network and cybersecurity one of, if not THE, top priority for many organisations.

In a survey conducted by Tech Target of UK company priorities for 2022, 57% placed security and risk management at the top. In addition, security awareness training is now the number 1 most popular project for businesses this year.

And as a direct result of the new working landscape, with remote and hybrid working an everyday feature of life and business, the considerable hastening of IT convergence has meant businesses like ours need to keep out in front.

Our customers now require a fast, efficient, and easily managed underlying network, with the security controls in place, particularly, to provide the assurance required to operate across multiple locations and hybrid working environments.

Delivering top class contact centre, customer experience and unified communications services, for instance, now requires a contemporary, efficient, easily managed and secure underlying network which is safe and trusted from wherever users or agents are working.

As a result of this Great Convergence, businesses like FourNet need to keep up with customer requirements and demands.

And that’s why today we have unveiled our latest strategic acquisition, of IT infrastructure and security company, C>Ways.

Founded 24 years ago, C>Ways specialises in networking and cybersecurity, cloud and business continuity.

We are delighted to welcome C>Ways to the FourNet family. By combining our businesses, we have accelerated our ability to deliver on new services already in FourNet’s portfolio and to provide security across the entire technology stack for our public sector and enterprise customers.

With the acquisition of C>Ways, FourNet now has an enlarged team with the people, skills, and experience to provide an enhanced secure infrastructure to all our existing and new customers.

And that means that wherever your employees are working, FourNet and our new colleagues from C>Ways can provide the secure infrastructure you need for a safe, and trusted, hybrid working environment.
