Careers Fairs
pro·manchester’s Professional Careers Development Day, 25th November 2009, MMU Business School.
Focusing on developing employability skills and careers in Manchester, the event offers you the chance to network with potential employees of the future.
Representing your organisation/sector, the Career Development Day will enable you to set expectations and advise and guide under-graduates and post-graduates in career choices, personal & professional development and positioning in the jobs market. We would anticipate 600 or more students of MMU, Manchester University and Salford University to attend on the day.
There will be the opportunity to be involved in:
- Sector-specific presentations with Q&A sessions focusing on career development and Manchester careers
- One to one sessions with students working on CV, application, personal & professional development and career positionning
- Company exhibits
- Ongoing mentoring with undergraduates and post-graduates (there is great demand for professional mentors throughout the academic year at both MMU and Manchester University)

Mentoring
Manchester Gold (University of Manchester): matches students with a mentor from business to learn about their industry, their job, etc. The mentor’s commitment is around 12 hours which includes an induction/training session and four meetings with the mentee. Internships
Manchester Graduate Internship Programme (MGIP) (University of Manchester): 4-12 internship programme incorporating employability and business skills development. Aims to grown the graduate job market in the City Region. Employers needed to offer internships or to deliver master classes or host sessions.

Innovation Vouchers (NWDA): Vouchers worth up to £3,000 to help SMEs access the knowledge base in universities and colleges as a way of stimulating innovation to improve productivity and competitiveness.
