Finding Your Calm in the Chaos: Psychological Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion at Work – brought to you by the LGBTQ+ committee
When the world feels overwhelming and uncertain, how do we control the "controllables" and find a sense of calm and safety at work and in life? Inspired by the Manchester Pride theme of “There’s No Place Like Home,” this interactive session explores how identity, inclusion, and workplace environments shape wellbeing, challenging us to rethink what “home” and “safe space” really mean, and how we can actively create them for ourselves and others.
Through lived experiences, audience input, and practical insights, the session will highlight how inclusion, belonging, and everyday behaviours influence whether people feel able to be themselves, speak up, and thrive at work.

About the Speakers:
Andrew is an associate solicitor at Mills & Reeve LLP specialising in defending claims against professionals. He joined the firm’s national LGBTQ network (Spectrum) nearly four years ago as a trainee and now serve as co-chair. One of my focus areas – and the reason I joined this sub-committee – is strengthening connections with local LGBTQ professionals to share best practice and build a more collaborative and supportive community.”
Alisha works for Together Finance as a Procurement Graduate. She wanted to speak at this event to share her own experience both in and out of the workplace as someone who is now openly part of the LGBTQ+ community. Having grown up without a prominent figure to help her navigate her journey, she has made it her mission to be a source of support for others.
After a career spent working within the data industry, including 18 years as the Managing Director of an internationally based corporate, Lisa decided to change focus and pursue a business opportunity based upon her lifelong interest in sport, nutrition, health, and well-being. Following the completion of a Masters’ degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science at University of Chester, Lisa founded MtWW. Lisa’s interest in the subject was triggered by her dissertation research project examining the impact of Vitamin D on menopausal symptoms experienced by female endurance athletes. She has undertaken menopause specific training with the International Menopause Society, Newson Health Menopause Society and continues to update her knowledge around all aspects of female hormonal health.
