Donate Devices. Support Residents. Reduce Waste

Repurposing retired corporate IT equipment, the Greater Manchester Technology Fund (GM Tech Fund) is an initiative is tackling digital exclusion across the city region.

Established in 2020 as a regional emergency response, the fund initially supported students with home learning by redistributing refurbished devices while schools were closed during the pandemic lockdown. Since its launch, the Technology Fund has delivered four phases, each building on a sustainable, circular-economy model.

Through the programme, businesses are supported to responsibly redeploy their end-of-life technology, ensuring valuable assets are reused to reduce digital exclusion while minimising e-waste.

To deliver this programme at scale and ensure devices are refurbished to a high standard, the Technology Fund works in partnership with Community Computers. As our trusted refurbishment partner, Community Computers specialises in preparing decommissioned corporate devices for reuse, extending the life of technology and enabling it to be redistributed to people and communities who need it most.
