CEO Update – COVID-19

Tuesday, 14th April 2020

A Happy Easter to all. Whilst I appreciate this bank holiday has been like no other, I do hope you managed to make the most of it.

On Saturday over 1.5 million people came together to the enjoy the Hacienda House Party streamed through unitedwestream.co.uk @StreamGM. Thousands of pounds were donated, and a lot of love shared. Another fine example of Manchester bringing people together, staying strong and resilient in these testing times.

With that, it is my honour to announce that the man behind this magnificent feat, our night time economy advisor, Sacha Lord will be joining us on 29th April to talk about the impact of COVID-19 on the hospitality industry and what Manchester is doing to combat the crisis and support the sector. Please book here.

On Friday we were also pleased to announce that we have joined forces with Professional Liverpool and will be bringing together our Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham and Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, Steve Rotheram. The webinar will take place on 1st May. Please click here for more details and booking information.

I’ve said it many times before and I will say it again, collaboration is key, especially during times like these. In a bid to quieten some of the noise pro-manchester will be supporting the GM chamber in the promotion of their weekly GM Business Monitor Survey aimed at better understanding the impact of COVID-19 on businesses in the region. In order to gain as much insight and intelligence as possible please complete the attached survey – https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GMCCBusinessMonitor.

This week will feature our fourth COVID-19 update in partnership with Grayling Communications. We are delighted to announced that tomorrow Chris Peacock will be joined by Mo Isap – co-chair of the GM Local Enterprise Partnership. Last week the GMLEP approved £3 million funding boost to further support businesses impacted by COVID-19.  http://gmlep.com/news/gmlep-approves-3m-funding-for-local-businesses. Mo will be sharing more information about this funding scheme and other initiatives taking place across the region. Please click here for more information and booking details. To view previous webinars please visit our YouTube channel here.

Finally, don’t forget last week we launched our Furlough Forum on LinkedIn. Please do sign up and feel free share support, advice and initiatives.

Stay home, stay safe and look after yourselves.
